CSUSB / Baca 2007 Education Summit
S.I.Y.E.C. Attends Education Summit
The 2007 Education Summit, sponsored by California State University at San Bernardino and Congressman Joe Baca, focussed on the 'No Child Left Behind' program which has come up for review in the U.S. Congress.
The problems with 'No Child Left Behind' were addressed by each speaker, including it's one-size-fits-all approach to educating our youth, the way it excludes important programs such as art and physical education, it's lack of instruction in critical thinking, and the difficulties it poses for minority children, including our Native American youth.
Terra S. Robertson, Pres., and Dolores Stinson, volunteer, attended for Sacred Indigenous Youth Education Circle. It was an enlightening and informative morning, and we thank Congressman Joe Baca for our invitation.
